This breed is a relatively new breed which was first discovered in the Russian of Rostov in the year 1988.It was named a Don Sphynx by the Russians which began sending feliness in Europe to and also to various breeders across the globe.It was discovered that some kittens were born with full coat while some others were born totally hairless,while others lose their hairs while growing up.The Peterbald kitten came as a result of the combination of the Don Sphynx and an oriental shorthair kitten which then led to template which is now called the Peterbald breed.There are many genetic studies which are currently being carried out which may lead to a wider understanding about the coat variations in these kittens.While for now admirers and cat breeders can be rest assured that this cat(Peterbald) is among the unique animals in the world
In 2005,Peterbald kittens where accepted in the International Cat Assocaition and also into championship competitions.More research will go a long way in understanding more about the Peterbald kitten breed

Peterbald cats,appear to combine both athleticism and elegance.The breed is classified as a good build and have a tubular shape to their body.They have oversize ears that stick straight up fro their head and a trianglar face with a captivating,oversized and large eyes.Their coat can apear like;almost hairless or totally hairless,short hair that is sometimes compared to to the peach fuzz.They have varying lengths of coat that are very very shoft.If in case the kitten appear to be have a thick coat or a regular coat,it should still be bred as a Peterbald breed because it also or still carries the hairless gene despite its coat.It is good so that u know that the coat can still change overtime when as the kitten grow.
Allergy

Grooming
Grooming a Peterbald kitten will be or is based on the type of coat of the breed.A nearly hairless Peterbald of hairless Peterbald kitten will not really require alot of brushing.You should always make sure you bathe your Peterbald atleast once a month because bald felines are more oily than other breeds.Also be careful not to wash very often because it can cause dry skin.use cat wipes to clean thier skinsAlso it is important to take care to wipe the cats eyes because sometimes they do not have eye lashes so good care and attention should be given to the eyes.Same should attention should be given to thier ears as well and should always be cleaned often.Always keep in mind that the Peterbald cats are more sensitive to weather due to the hairless nature and this means the Petterbald kitten will need an extra layer during the winter and during sunscreen in summer.Also know that bald cats burn more calories than normal breeds so their diet should be good and carry all their nutritional requirements
